United Nations Advance Mission in Cambodia (UNAMIC) 1991/92
Erste unmittelbare Erfahrungen aus der fachdienstlichen zusammenarbeit mit den Vereinten Nationen.
This article provides a short overview over the German military health service support to UNAMIC, the UNITED NATIONS ADVANCE MISSION IN CAMBODIA, from November 1991 to May 1992. It was the first formal German military medical cooperatioon with the United Nations, ever. Major experiences and lessons learned are described and put into a historical perspective. They influenced the further development of the Bundeswehr health service support system on the way to its current capabilities. Finally, conclusions with respect to potential future challenges are drawn, and pertinent actions are recommended.
