The Medic in the Netherlands Armed Forces

In the policies of the Netherlands Surgeon General it is stated that the medical care during out of area operation should be the same as when the operation would have taken place in the Netherlands. Under certain operational circumstances, the quality of medical care that can be reached in the Netherlands is not always feasible. Under these circumstances, an appeal must be done on the employment of laymen (combatants) with a medical co-ordination, such as the Medic.
