    Terrorist attack in peace keeping operation in Kerbala, Iraq

    The aim of this study is to investigate the Bulgarian experience of the medical support and overall and medical losses in peacekeeping operations in conditions of terrorist attack.
    During the terrorist attack, the military medical personnel were in base “Kilo”, where the medical station and field hospital were deployed.
    The distribution of casualties in medical establishments on 29.12.2003 was as follow: mildly wounded /8 soldiers/ - in the medical service of our base “Kilo”; medical service of Polish logistic base /8/; American medical service in Baghdad - 2; medical service on the airport of Baghdad - 2; in the Mosul region - 4. The general losses in a single terrorist attack against the Bulgarian contingent in Kerbala were 14,9 and medical losses - 13,7%.
    In conclusion, Bulgarian military doctors can provide medical support in conditions of terrorist attack during peacekeeping missions.
