Security deterioration in Northern Afghanistan challenges medical services

The worsening of the security situation in Northern Afghanistan has made necessary changes to the military medical care provision system at all levels of the rescue chain. For the first time in their history, the medical services of the German Bundeswehr are confronted with the challenge of providing medical support that meets the given quality requirements even under combat conditions and in an unfavourable infrastructure environment. This article deals with experiences to date, the modifications that have been introduced so far and the problems that still need to be overcome.
