    Naval Medical Expertise Centre

The Naval Medical Expertise Centre of the Royal Netherlands Navy has been founded recently. The primary objective was to combine all operational medical knowledge and expertise in the Navy: aviation medicine and search and rescue (SAR), diving and submarine medicine, hypo- and hyperthermia in the operational field and medical support under extreme circumstances for example artic- and jungle training. A second objective was to capture and preserve the historical base of knowledge and to develop new medical protocols and strategies in these disciplines. This article will focus on the aspects of aviation-, diving- and submarine medicine.
