    Medico-geographical characteristics impact on medical support in crisis situations

    During the last decade of the XX-th century the threat of a world war outburst, using weapons of mass destruction (WMD) was replaced by terrorist actions. The efforts of the society and leading state and scientific achievements were directed to prevent and mitigate the consequences, resulting from natural and anthropogenic disasters. In 1987, through the 42 Resolution of the UN General Assembly, the last decade of the XX-th century was declared as International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction (IDNDR).
