"Large Capacity Intensive Care Ambulances" -
A new concept for the response to large scale disasters
It is essential for both military and civilian
authorities to develop concepts for dealing with mass casualty situations. And it was for this reason that the State of Rhineland-Palatinate
in Germany commissioned the production
of two large capacity intensive care
ambulances for use during the FIFA 2006
World Cup. The ambulances were adapted
from an existing low- oor municipal bus design.
The two vehicles are now on standby for use in civilian disaster situations. They are stationed in Koblenz and Ludwigshafen and are crewed by personnel and operated by the local fire services.
