Human Resources of The French Military Health Service
Around the notion of the profession, the concept of the health function is getting more and more
concrete, gathering the whole of the military and convergent civilian personnel in the installations of the French Military Health Service (MHS) for the good of the units of the armed forces and the mission of medical support. For this reason, one of the six divisions of the Office of the Surgeon General of the French Armed Forces is more particularly in charge of the function “human resources”. A strategic plan of the latter was elaborated, in accordance with the strategic chart defined by the Surgeon General. This document fixes the political main objectives of the function “human resources” (HR) as well as the ones of the various offices of the divisions for a three years period. In 2009, the division RH obtained a new information system structuring the organisation of the various functional fields (recruitment, management and administration, formation…). This new device enables the Service to manage, in its totality, the whole of its military personnel and their payment hitherto entrusted to the three armies. Thus, the evolution of the function “human resources” is looking as well for a reorganisation of the joint structures as of the governance of the Service.
