Dental implants
- A topic in medical consultations too
Dental implantology has been recognized scientifically since 1984. According to studies, the 10-year prognosis for successful implants is about 95 %. By using implants, dentistry approaches a "restitutio ad integrum" - in the past, dentures predominated. However, this tooth replacement was and is frequently unable to halt the atrophy of hard and soft tissue structures to the same degree as is possible by the insertion of new tooth roots (implants). In daily life, of course, this means good and secure masticatory function for the patient - denture wearers, for example, are unable to bite into an apple. Other factors such as unaffected speech and facial expressions are just as important for the patient.
