    Concept for Modern Protected Ambulance Vehicles

    Considerable tactical flexibility and efficiency – together with a level of protection appropriate to any threat – are essential prerequisites for operative effectiveness and mission completion where the rescue and evacuation of the wounded and injured during conflict prevention and disaster-related deployments are concerned. In this context, it is the task of the Bundeswehr Joint Medical Service (Zentrale Sanitätsdient, ZSanDstBw) to provide extensive and sustainable support to the armed forces during missions involving intervention to
    stabilise a situation (basic Bundeswehr concept) 1.This article discusses the requirements for land-based, armoured ambulance transport vehicles.
